FFXIV Gladiator Guide
Gladiators are powerful warriors of Eorzea. They are one of the Disciples of War classes in FFXIV. Their primary tools of destruction are a vast array of different swords and shields. This class is best suited for a Tank role but can dish out some pretty heavy damage at times, too. They wear heavy armors which allow them to absorb tons of damage and protect party members better.
The main stats you’ll want to focus on improving with a Gladiator are the Strength and Vitality stats. Vitality should be your highest priority since it gives your character even more survivability and enough health to take up the role of tanking in any situation.
If you want to become a Gladiator you can do so by either choosing it as your starting class or by waiting until you’re level 10 and visiting the Gladiators Guild, The Coliseum, which is found in Uldah.
NOTE: The sub-class (or job) associated with Gladiator is the Paladin which can be obtained by leveling your Gladiator up to 30 and also reaching level 15 as a Conjurer.

Race & Craft Recommendations
In this part of our FFXIV Gladiator guide we will be discussing what we believe are the best races and crafting professions to use alongside the class itself.
Because you want to focus mostly on building up your Strength and Vitality stats for a Gladiator a clear winner when it comes to race is the Sea Wolf Roegadyn which starts off with a 22 in Strength and a 23 in Vitality.
For crafting you always want to choose professions that will actually help your character out in some way. The obvious choices for a Gladiator are Armorsmith and Blacksmith since both can create useful items for your player such as heavy armors and a plethora of swords.
Gladiator Quests
For this section of the FFXIV Gladiator guide we’ll be talking about the quests you’ll receive when you first take up the class and as you progress with it.
As a Gladiator, just like with any other class in FFXIV, you’ll be given a set of quests to complete from the moment you take up the class until you reach level 30 and proceed to Paladin.
These quests serve a variety of purposes from teaching you the basics of the Gladiator class to providing you with weapons, shields, and new skills. For every quest you complete you’ll earn experience toward your class rank, a bit of coin, and possibly items.
Here is the full list of quests for the Gladiator:
- Way of the Gladiator (level 1)
- My First Gladius (level 1)
- Kicking the Hornets Nest (level 5)
- Uldahs Most Wanted (level 10)

Nearly all of these quests will be assigned to your player by the NPC named Mylla Swordsong, the guildmaster of the Gladiators Guild which is located in the Steps of Thal portion of Uldah. The only quest that isnt assigned by her, Way of the Gladiator, is given to your character by Lulutsu, the guilds receptionist.
NOTE: In the near future well be adding a few sets of Gladiator builds & skill rotations to this page for player use.
